About Us

MVIEVA Established January 2020
Since we began in January 2020, we had a bit of a speed bump with Covid-19, but despite being unable to hold meetings in person , your board was busy behind the scenes. With monthly board meetings, having discussions with the City of Nanaimo on expanding EV infrastructure to name a few.
We have since held regular coffee meetups, some Tailgate gatherings, and several general meetings with guest speakers. As well, we have been setting up several display's of EV's at car shows, and farmers markets. Check out our events page to learn where you can find us next.

We continue to advocate both to city and provincial governments to add better signage for finding charge stations, to add more stations, and to offer incentives for homes and apartments/condos to install chargers.

As well, we meet monthly with the EV Leaders across the country via Zoom, where we discuss issues that relate locally and nationally. As an affiliate of the Electric Vehicle Society of Canada, we are able to have our voice heard, as one, at the federal government level.
As of 2023, MVI EVA is now a voting member of the Global Electric Vehicle Alliance (GEVA) based in Vienna Austria. We attend monthly meetings on Zoom do review challenges faced with EV adoption worldwide.

The MVI EVA is registered under the BC Societies Act to represent EV owners and enthusiasts on beautiful Vancouver Island. Our territory encompasses Mill Bay to Bowser, Nanaimo to Tofino.

It is our purpose - to promote, encourage, develop and support the adoption and use of electric vehicles. We advocate to industry, government, agencies and other bodies, on matters which impact and interest the members.

We believe that the transition of roadway transportation to electric vehicles will rapidly help conserve our natural environment, slow climate change and help us move to a more sustainable future. Immediate reductions in CO2 and other dangerous pollutants will be gained with every fossil-fuel burning vehicle replaced. The members of this Association are dedicated to accelerating this transition to the best of our abilities.
